A control slide valve for fitting into the exhaust pipe of motor vehicles or the like is described, which comprises a housing, through which the exhaust gas flows, in which a sealing washer is carried, which can be slid by a drive device in front of the flow aperture. The housing, in the nature of a 3-way valve, is provided with a feed aperture for the exhaust gas and two outlet apertures, which both lie in the adjustment area of the sealing washer. One of the outlet apertures can at the same time be connected to the exhaust, the other to a bypass line, so that it is possible to restrict or shut off the exhaust gas flow, in order to achieve the function of an engine brake, and also to divert or partially tap off the exhaust gas flow in order, for example, to preheat engine air by way of a heat exchanger or to utilise the heat contained in the exhaust gas in some other way. |
