PURPOSE:To obtain a color picture tube having good picture quality and no generation of color dispersion by providing the shadow mask surface with a thin film of a material having larger thermal conductivity than an oxide of a shadow mask material. CONSTITUTION:On the surface of a shadow mask, for example, a zinc oxide thin film 40 is formed. Thereby, thermal emission is increased while reducing an strain amount due to thermal expansion. Accordingly, deterioration in picture quality due to color dispersion caused by collision of electron beams is prevented thus making it possible to obtain a picture with image reproduction of good quality. Further, for not having black rust on the surface of the shadow mask, exfolation of black rust due to a difference in thermal expansion of iron and black rust is totally removed while no black rust sticks to an electron gun thus contributing to improve dielectric strength. |
