<p>1393798 Conjugate filament yarns SNAM PROGETTI SpA 15 Sept 1972 [16 Sept 1971] 38519/72 Heading D1F A process for the production of bulked yarn formed from conjugate filaments of two or more polymers and/or copolymers of different chemical and/or physical characteristics comprises drawing the yarn, false twisting the yarn by means of a false twist spindle, the yarn being heated during the drawing and/or after the drawing and prior to false twisting so that it is still hot when given the false twist, and then passing the yarn while free from tension through an oven at a temperature in the range 100-350‹C to develop the latent crimp in the yarn. The process may be continuous or discontinuous. The number of false twists given to the yarn is from 600 to 1600 per metre, preferably 1000 per metre. The false twists may be given to the yarn in the drawing zone. In a preferred embodiment, the yarn is introduced into the crimp developing oven by means of a gaseous jet at a temperature below the softening point of the filaments. The filaments preferably comprise polyester, copolyester, polyamide, copolyamide, acrylic, modacrylic and olefinic components.</p> |
