The clutch with a pressure plate (18) forced against two friction layers (20a, b) on a clutch disc (20) splined to the driven shaft (22), has a housing ring (14) connected by straps (24) to the pressure plate. The housing ring is also connected to the flywheel (12) mounted on the driving shaft (10) forming part of the clutch and housing. The housing ring includes a curved part (16) connected to a membrane spring (26) with radial fingers (28) extending inwards to the ball bearing mounted return member (30). The membrane spring has an outer zone (R3) in contact with projections (18b) on the pressure plate and an intermediate zone (R2) forming the connection with the housing ring. This is formed by punched tabs with bends (34a, b) shaped to fit round the spherical edges (32) of projecting lugs on the housing ring.
