Each of the two coupling-element rows are attached to a respective carrying band (11 or 12), in which bands a wale-free zone (15) is present between warp-knitted zones (13, 14). In said wale-free zone transversely running sections of a connecting thread form openings (17) which are intended to receive a row of thread loops (32), which are used to attach the relevant carrying band to a knitted fabric portion (34). At their one end the carrying bands have a separable end stop (24). In the case of this end stop, a reinforcing element (28) is fastened to each of the carrying bands and connected to the end stop. The reinforcing element extends beyond the wale-free zone and has elevations (36, 37) or teeth or notches in the region of the wale-free zone for the purpose of securing the thread loops (35) located there to the reinforcing element to prevent them from shifting sideways. <IMAGE>
