PURPOSE:To eliminate a failure in coating removal and to reduce the damaging of the surface of a fiber by moving two removing edges while making a flaw in the coating, and cutting the fiber with another cutting tool while the coating is left atop. CONSTITUTION:The remover having the two coating removing edges 4 mades a flaw in the secondary coating of an optical fiber core and is moved axially to expose part of the optical fiber 3. Then, the tip part is cut and a coating 1 of length L is left atop. The fiber 3 in this state is cut with another cutting tool. Thus, the coating 1 is removed by using the two removing edges 4, so the friction between the coating 1 and fiber 3 is reduced to reduced a failure in removal. Further, when the fiver 3 is cut, part of the coating 1 is left, so the need to array the fiber 3 is eliminate and the flawing of the surface is reduced. |
