Pick for underground mining machines

Picks which consist of shank, tip holder and carbide cutting bit are provided for use in mining machines, in particular in underground mining. The carbide cutting bit is inserted through a corresponding inner bore into the tip holder and is held there in a positive-locking manner, this positive locking being complemented by a welded joint between shank and tip holder. The shank has an extension, which can be inserted into the inner bore in the tip holder, so that the needle-shaped carbide cutting bit can be reliably fixed by the head on a shoulder formed in the inner bore. <IMAGE>
