The valve proposed has a closing member (7) which is arranged in a holding cage (9) and is movable essentially along one axis relative to an associated valve seat (6) in order to control the flow of a medium through an opening (2) having the valve seat (6). The closing member (7) is arranged with limited mobility in the holding cage (9), the sealing region of the closing member (7) which adopts the inner defined position having an axial clearance (x) from the end of the holding cage (9) which can advantageously be preset when the holding cage (9) and the closing member (7) are assembled. The greater the clearance (x), the smaller is the radial mobility of the closing member (7) and hence the permissible centre offset of valve components given a certain unchanged geometry of the holding cage (9). <IMAGE>
