PURPOSE:To simplify storing and custody of articles in various heights by determining the number of storage division units required to store articles in a warehouse and retrieving positions of storing which satisfies the number from a management file. CONSTITUTION:Labels L which magnetically record item codes f, g, heights data h1, h2, indicating heights of articles H1, H2, are affixed to articles F, G and one of the articles is put on the pallet P of a crane 2, after the label L is read by a reading part 9 at storing. Each data read by the reading part 9 is fed to a discriminating part 10 of a processing unit 4. If the height data is less than the prescribed height of a storing shelf which is a storage divsion unit, the item code of the corresponding article is posted to a retrieving part 11 and the article is stored on a prescribed empty shelf Tn in conformity with a management file 5. On the other hand, if the height data is more than the prescribed height h, a doubled height data 2h, together with the item code are posted to the retrieving part 11 and two adjacently positioned storing shelves are retrieved and the article is stored there. |
