A laboratory extractor (fume cupboard) and an extraction process with supply air feed is described in which vertical air supply openings which are arranged in the region of the front work opening and extend over the entire height of the workspace are in each case allocated likewise vertically disposed exhaust openings, preferably in the region of the rear edges of the space. This results in a laminar, low-loss flow which encompasses the entire workspace and permits a high proportion of supply air. The resulting harmful gases are, independent of their stratification in the workspace, extracted uniformly and with low loss. The subject of the invention is shown in Fig. 1. <IMAGE>
