PURPOSE:To reduce the relative motion between a gate and a sheet and to prevent the sheet from being damaged by setting the moving direction of the gate where the sheet is brought into contact to correct skewing of the sheet same as the transport direction of the sheet transported by transport rollers. CONSTITUTION:A sheet 1 supplied in direction of an arrow A is clamped between a pair of transport rollers 2a, 2b and transported in the direction of an arrow B. The sheet 1 is brought into contact with a pair of gates 3a, 3b arranged side by side along the perpendicular direction to a side guide 4, whereby the skewing of the sheet is corrected. In this case, the leading edge portion 1a of the sheet 1 is detected by a photo sensor 6, and on detection, the respective gates 3a, 3b are moved in the same directions Z1, Z2 as the direction B of transporting the sheet 1 synchronously with the movement of the sheet 1. The side edge portion 1b of the sheet 1 is brought into contact with the side guide 1 to position the sheet laterally, and then the respective guides 3a, 3b are retreated downward C not to interfere with the sheet 1 in moving to the left. |
