PURPOSE:To coincide centers of a coupling and a screw portion of a pipe by providing a means for measuring position of the outer circumference of the screw portion of the pipe and a means for moving to correct a central point of a screw-in device of a coupling startor. CONSTITUTION:After clamping a pipe A by a clamping device 30 operated by a hydraulic cylinder 32, a contactor 34 of an outer circumference measuring device 33 is contacted to the outer circumference of a screw unit to measure positions of plural points on the identical outer circumference of the screw unit A', and from this value, the center line 35 of the screw unit A' is calculated. Next, an X direction correcting servo motor and a Y direction correcting servo motor of a screw-in device are operated to make the center line of the screw-in device coincide with the center line of the screw unit A'. And by turning to the arrow mark direction with a rotating central axis 29 of the screw-in device 20 as an axis, the coupling B held by a chuck 21 is opposed to the pipe A, and the coupling B can be fit and mounted on the pipe A. |
