The container (2) has a bead (10) near to the mouth and an annular outwardly projecting rib (11). The lid (1) consists of a lid upper part (23) and a ring (17). The latter is connected to the lid upper part (23) via a thin tear-off skin (14) which extends in the circumferential direction around the lid (1). Arranged on the inside of the ring (17) is an inwardly projecting rib (13) which grips below the rib (11) of the container. When the lid upper part (23) is lifted off for the first time, the ring (17) located on the rib (11) of the container (2) is completely and irreversibly severed. Unauthorized opening of the container can therefore be detected immediately on the lid (1) by the user. The container is particularly suitable for packaging foods, for example yoghourt or pharmaceutical products. <IMAGE>
