Micrometer

Application is made to protect a micrometer having a measuring head 11 which can be axially displaced with respect to the micrometer housing by rotating the screw 8 which is connected to it. The micrometer has, furthermore, an electronic measuring device which detects the rotary movement of the screw 8 and converts it into a linear dimension. The linear dimension measured is digitally displayed in the display field 38. An essential feature is that a rotary selector switch 25 which is operationally connected to a radially movable function key 23 is, furthermore, provided coaxially relative to the drive ring for the purpose of presetting selected functions. The linear dimension is obtained by joint rotation of the screw 8 with a coding disc 13 which can be moved between two fixed annular discs designed as a transmitting electrode 17 and receiving electrode 18. The axially movable measuring sleeve 5 can be fixed together with the measuring head 11 in the set position by means of a clamping device. <IMAGE>
