A device for separating strip sections from a moving, first web of material (9) and for subsequently applying said strip sections to discrete successive, spaced-apart regions of a likewise moving second web of material (11) consists of a multiplicity of conveying elements (1) rotating on a circumference of a circle. In the circumferential direction, the conveying elements (1) have a spacing from one another which changes after every revolution during the rotation. This change is caused by a lever linkage consisting of a first lever (3) and a second lever (4) which connects one conveying element (1) in each case to a common driving disc (2). By guiding the first lever (3) on a curved path (8), the conveying elements (1) are controlled in such a way that two conveying elements rest against one another in each case in a position in which the first web of material (9) is being fed while said conveying elements are then moved apart in such a way that the strip sections from the first web of material (9) borne on the conveying elements can be transferred continuously with spacing onto a second web of material (11). <IMAGE>
