PURPOSE:To perform sure multiple transfer easily by providing a means, which gives an electric charge having a polarity opposite to that of the electric charge of a toner to a transfer material from the rear face of the transfer material, and a transfer drum having an insulating surface so that they face an image carrier. CONSTITUTION:The image carrier drum consists of a conductive base body 1 and a photoconductive photosensitive layer 2, the transfer drum consists of a conductive base body 3, a conductive elastic material layer 4, and an insulating layer 5. A negative DC bias is applied to the transfer drum from a bias power source 6, and a positive high voltage is applied from a power source 8 to a corona discharger 7 which is provided to face the image carrier drum. The image carrier drum and the transfer drum are pressed to each other in a transfer part A, and they are rotated in directions of arrows B and C respectively at the operation time. An electrostatic image formed on the image carrier drum is developed by a developing device omitted in the figure to form an image of a toner 9. A transfer material 10 is fed in the direction of an arrow D, and a positive electric charge opposite to the polarity of the toner 9 is given to the transfer material 10 from the rear face of the material 10 by the discharger 7. Thus, sure multiple transfer is performed easily. |
