<p>An aq. emulsions contains, in colloidal suspension, a copolymer of (a) 35-96.5 wt. % vinyl and/or vinylidene halide, (b) 3-60 wt. % ethylene and/or monoalkenically unsatd. ester, and (c) 5-15 wt. % of monomers which impart heat-hardening properties and which contain is not 0.5 wt. % of an addn. prod. of HCHO and an allyl carbamate of formula (I): (where R1 is H or CH3, R2 is 2-4C alkylidene gp. and n = 0.10). The copolymers are used as binders for fleeces, fabric impregnants, binders in printing pastes, adhesives in laminating, and as lacquers. Hardening is improved, and the copolymers are more insol. after hardening. Treated textiles are more resistant to washing and solvents. If the emulsion is used to bond foams onto flat textile goods, bonding is firmer.</p> |
