A coloured track consisting of a solvent-containing marking compound is applied as a thin-layer marking, this marking compound being so constituted that, after the drying time which defines when it can be driven over has elapsed, said compound remains plastically deformable for a relatively long time before it fully hardens. Scattered onto the freshly traced coloured track are glass beads which have been subjected to a surface treatment for reducing their sinking depth, a so-called flotation treatment, and a certain proportion of which have a high refractive index between 1.9 and approximately 2.0, whereas the remainder have normal refraction. After the drying time has elapsed, and before the complete hardening of the marking compound, the coloured track is deformed by impressing a surface profile which in the case of a newly traced marking line may have profile heights between 0.5 and 2.0 mm and in the case of retracing a coloured track to be renewed may have a profile height up to 3.0 mm. A marking line made in this way is characterised by good night visibility even in wet conditions. <IMAGE> |
