1450026 Disazo pigment CIBA-GEIGY AG 28 April 1975 [29 April 1974] 17507/75 Heading C4P The pigment of Formula I is prepared by (a) condensing the dye of Formula II with 4-chloro-1,3-phenylene diamine in a molar ratio of 2 : 1 or (b) coupling diazotized anthranilic acid methylester with 1,3-bis-(2<SP>1</SP>- hydroxy - 3<SP>1 </SP>- naphthoylamino) - 4 - chlorobenzene. The starting dyestuff of Formula II may be prepared by reacting the corresponding free carboxylic acid with thionyl chloride. The coupling reaction (b) may be carried out in a mixing nozzle, by first forming a diazoamine compound by coupling with morpholine or by carrying out the diazotization and coupling in a single stage using an alkyl nitrite. A mixed pigment may be obtained by partially replacing the diamine in process (a) by 1,3-phenylenediamine. The pigment of Formula I and the above mixed pigment may be used to colour plastics in the mass and to colour melts, spinning solutions, lacquers, paints and printing inks containing polymeric materials, giving orange shades. |
