PURPOSE:To prevent each tone part of a multicolor ink ribbon from being contaminated due to mxing of different colors, by a construction wherein a shield sheet capable of preventing different colors on a multicolor ink ribbon from mixing with each other is provided between the tip of a printing head and the ink ribbon. CONSTITUTION:A ribbon cartridge 3 mounted on a carrier 4 is supported by the multicolor ink ribbon changeover mechanism so that the tip part of the printing head 8 corresponds to a specified position of the multicolor ink ribbon 2, and when a printing action is conducted on a printing surface of a platen 1, the head 8 presses the specified position of the ribbon 2 through the shield sheet 9, thereby printing is made on a printing apper. Therefore, due to the presence of the sheet 9, the tip of the head 8 does not make direct contact with the ribbon 2, so that it is not stained. Accordingly, when printing by setting the head 8 in correspondence with a color at a position different from the above position, the color of the ribbon 2 used in the preceding printing does not mix with the color of the ribbon 2 used in the subsequent printing. |
