2-Substituted 1-(3'-aminoalkyl)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro- beta -carbolines of the formula <IMAGE> I where n, R1, R2, R3, R4 and R5 have the meanings given in the description, and their preparation and use. The novel substances are useful for treating arrhythmia.
