The invention relates to foundry work. The casting machine which is the subject of the invention is characterised in that the sole plate 10 comprises, in its upper face, an impression 11 for shaping a part of the piston with a cavity 12 located in its upper part in order to receive the reinforcement element of the piston, the said sole plate being mounted so that it can execute a horizontal, alternating, rectilinear movement for its positioning either below the half-caps 4, 5 or outside the zone of the half-caps 4, 5. The invention may be applied to mechanical constructions, during the casting of pistons for internal-combustion engines made from alloys of aluminium which is resistant, in the hot state, to mechanical forces, and which are reinforced with insertion elements for reinforcing the piston under the upper sealing ring. <IMAGE>
