PURPOSE:To obtain a cadmium plate having sufficient mechanical strength and excellent plate performance such as active substance by executing hot press at a particular pressure and temperature to individual active substance powder such as cadmium hydroxide or a mixture of conductive material and active substance. CONSTITUTION:An active substance powder is composed of only cadmium hydroxide or a mixture of at least one of cadmium oxide and metal cadmium and cadmium hydroxide and the hot press is executed to the active substance powder only or a mixture of conductive material which works as a collector and active substance powder with a pressure of 1ton/cm<2> or more and temperature between 110 deg.C and 220 deg.C. Thereby, the thermal and partial decomposition of cadmium hydroxide and new chemical coupling between particles are generated simultaneously and a strong molded body can be obtained.
