The present invention relates to a device for detecting the level and/or volume of liquid in a tank. The device comprises level-detecting moving parts fitted with a float which moves in order to follow the level of the liquid and a resistive component of the rheostat type fitted with a slider connected to the moving detecting parts. The resistive component comprises a standard resistive device 60 composed of a plurality of elementary resistors 62 and having a plurality of intermediate input terminals 63 connected to the elementary resistors, as well an electrically insulating support 80 which carries a plurality of electrically conducting tracks 81 successively distributed opposite the path of movement of the slider, the respective length of the tracks along this path being adapted to the curve of the tank so that the passing of each of these tracks by the slider corresponds to an approximately constant variation in the volume of liquid in the tank. <IMAGE>
