The system comprises: an irrigation liquid 4 container 5; a pipe 7 connecting the base of the container to the input end of the injection channel 6 of the endoscope 1; a pump 9 mounted on the pipe; means 10 sensitive to the instantaneous pressure in the pipe 7 downstream of the pump and adapted to emit a first signal representing the said pressure; means 20 for determining a maximum operating pressure, adapted to emit a second signal representing the said maximum pressure; means 18 for comparing the said first and second signals and which are adapted to emit a third signal as long as the instantaneous pressure is less than the maximum pressure; and means 26 for controlling the pump, which means are actuated by the said third signal.
