PURPOSE:To improve film strength and storage stability by providing the image receiving element stated in the title with the first and second alkali-impermeable polymer layers and forming a hydrophilic polymer layer having vinylsulfone groups on the side chains between said polymer layers. CONSTITUTION:The first hydrolyzable alkali-insoluble polymer layer contg. a diffusible org. solvent-soluble agent, such as 2-mercaptoimidazole capable of modifying the photographic characteristics of a silver transferred image to be formed in the alkali-soluble polymer layer is formed on a support. Next, the hydrophilic polymer layer, such as a starch layer, contg. the polymer having vinylsulfone or its precursor on the side chain, such as acrylic acid-methacryloylethoxycarbonylethyl-chloroethylsulfone copolymer is formed on said layer, and on this layer the second hydrolyzable alkali-impermeable polymer layer contg. silver precipitation nuclei hydrolyzed and alkali-solubilized is formed. |
