The subject of the invention is a rainwater shaft or similar drainage or discharge shaft. The shaft has a sleeve-like vertical pipe (8), at the upper end of which a cover is fastened with the aid of a possible collar piece (10) and at the lower end of which there is fitted directly or indirectly a base part (6) which is provided with at least one substantially horizontal discharge pipe (12) and is centric with respect to the vertical pipe (8). The base part (6) is connected to the vertical pipe (8) by means of a releasible connection (17), permitting the base part (6) to turn about the central axis of the vertical pipe (8), and via one or more extension pieces (2, 4) which are fitted possibly between the base part (6) and the vertical pipe (8). Between the vertical pipe (8) and base part (6) there may be fitted a plurality of extension pieces (2, 4) one above the other, at least one of which is equipped with at least one, substantially horizontal discharge pipe (12). The extension pieces (2, 4) are connected to one another and to the base part (6) via connections (17) which permit the extension pieces (2, 4) and the base part (6) to turn with respect to one another about their common central axis. <IMAGE>
