In immersion-heating surfaces for fluidised-bed firing, with essentially horizontal pipes arranged above one another, the pipes being combined in pipe bulkheads which are each composed of at least two, preferably two to six, pipes arranged vertically one above the other and having on both sides lateral surfaces parallel to the direction of flow of the fluidising air (according to Patent Application P 3347083.9), the onflow surface of the lowest pipe (1) of a pipe bulkhead is covered by a protective element (2) through which cooling water flows. The protective element (2) has a forward-flow and a return-flow chamber (6, 7 and 10, 11), the return-flow chamber (7, 11) bearing without an interspace against the lowest pipe (1) of a pipe bulkhead. <IMAGE>
