The failure safeguard device for plastics injection moulds has a mechanical sensor (16) which can be moved by means of a drive device (18/19) with adjustable drive force between a defined starting position and a defined final position across the opening side (12, 13) of an open injection mould (10, 11). At the final positions, switch elements (24, 25) are provided. If the mechanical sensor (16) encounters an unejected injection moulding (15), its movement is interrupted and it does not reach a final position triggering a switching operation. <IMAGE>
