The subject-matter of the invention is a device for the electrically conductive connection of insulated cable cores (11), in particular of telephone cables, with the aid of so-called core connectors (13), in whose housing (12) a plurality of longitudinally slotted insulation-piercing and terminal contacts are mounted upright, side-by-side, for mechanical retention of, and to make contact with, in each case one pair (11) of cores. During installation of the connector cover (20) on the connector housing, the cores (11), which are inserted individually by hand side-by-side, are pressed into the contact slots of the insulation-piercing and terminal contacts in accordance with the LSA-PLUS (substation control and protection system - plus) technique. In order to simplify this connection process, according to the invention, the base body (2) of a tool (1) is mounted on a holder (3), and has a receptacle (12) for the connector housing. A compression piece (4) engages in an articulated manner on the base body (1), which compression piece (4) carries out a pivoting movement during its operation and presses the connector cover (20), which was previously fitted by hand, into the connector housing.
