In absorption cooling systems, heat pumps or the like, it is usual to heat the so-called boiler of the system by means of an electric heating cartridge. This heating cartridge is mounted in a special metal sleeve or a cast part which is rigidly connected to the outer casing of the boiler. This arrangement is rather expensive and not infrequently leads to relatively high operating temperatures with correspondingly large thermal surface loads on the cartridge which shorten the life of the same. The aim was therefore to keep these high operating temperatures lower at the same time as simplifying the structure of the heating device. This aim is achieved in the heating device according to the invention in that the heating cartridge bears directly against the outer casing of the boiler and is covered by means of a hood-shaped reflection sheet which extends along the cartridge, is arranged at a given distance therefrom and is fastened together with the heating cartridge to the outer casing of the boiler. <IMAGE>
