A filter apparatus for exhaust gas filtering, in particular to free flue gas from arsenic, lead, fluorine, blast furnace gas or sulphur oxides, having a filter vessel which is filled with porous filter beads and has an inlet opening for the gas to be purified at one end of the vessel and an outlet opening at the opposite end of the vessel, a transport device for the removal of filter beads at the bottom end of the vessel and for their return at the top end of the vessel, a washing apparatus, arranged in the course of the transport device, for cleaning the filter beads and a metering apparatus for the addition of reactants for hazardous exhaust gas components, in particular according to Patent P 3340655.3, the metering apparatus being arranged outside the filter vessel and being designed so that the filter beads on entering the filter vessel are furnished with a defined coating in such a manner that the flowing flue gas cannot entrain any excess reactant.
