A ground roller (B1), which has a smooth cylindrical roller surface (3) on which projections, for example prongs or studs, are arranged in circular rows (5), uses strippers (14) which have individual fingers (19, 20, 21). Only the finger ends bear against the roller in the gaps located between the rows (5). In regions of the roller surface (3) not covered by the fingers (19, 20, 21), a possible coating of earth is broken loose. In comparison with strippers, the scraping edges of which extend over approximately the entire width of the gaps (6), the finger-like strippers (14) have a substantially lower braking effect, with the result that undesirably pronounced sliding movements between the roller and ground are avoided and the traction force is reduced. <IMAGE>
