The thread chasing attachment is for automatic lathes with a hydraulic ram in the feed drive to a tool slide, using a cam rotating at a speed in a set proportion to that of the lathe spindle, and comprising a chaser cam with chasing and return strokes. In the hydraulic supply to the ram is a feeler valve, whose feeler pin bears via a rod against the rotating chaser cam during the chasing operation. The cam drum carrying the chaser cam is couple by a shaft, running in bearings in a baseplate, to the tool slide, which has a setting device carrying the chasing tool.
