<p>The lamp comprises a low pressure mercury vapour lamp, with a luminophore layer of strontium aluminate activated with Ce (SACe) followed by a glass filter with a lower absorption edge of 295 nm. Pref. the filter is made of conventional soda-lime glass as used for ordinary light bulbs or tubes, and the glass pref. contains traces of iron. The filter is pref. formed by the glass tube of the lamp, the tube being coated on its bore with the luminophore. This inexpensive high intensity lamp provides UV of 300-330 nm for treating psoriasis, without providing UV below 295 nm which could be harmful. The lamp can also be used for treating acne, forming vitamin D or hardening polymers.</p> |
