PURPOSE:To obtain a water-cooled casting mold for melting and refining metal adequate for production of a large-sized ingot by stacking axially plural pieces of units each constituted by mounting a water cooling jacket on the outside circumference of a cylindrical casting mold having a substantial size to increase the capacity. CONSTITUTION:The cylindrical casting molds 10a, 10b made of copper or copper alloy mounted with the water cooling jackets 20a, 20b on the outside circumferential wall are made a unit and plural pieces of such units are axially superposed and connected to form the casting mold having the required large capacity. Plural cooling water passages 42 are drilled through seal rings 11b and flanges 12a provided to the juncture of the casting mold to communicate the jackets 20a, 20b. The passages 42 are connected to each other by the connecting passages 42 consisting of annular groove parts 43a, 43b provided to the inside of the contact surfaces between the sealing ring 11b and the flange 12a. The water- cooled casting mold for melting and refining metal which has the simple water cooling piping system and is suitable for production of the large-sized ingot is thus obtd. |
