The invention relates to an arrangement for measuring small alternating currents by converting them into a direct-voltage signal. Since it can be miniaturised, it has many applications in measuring technology. The object of the invention, to be independent of a threshold voltage level in the exciter circuit and to achieve a DC isolation between exciter and measuring circuit, is achieved by an arrangement according to the invention in that it consists of a magnetoresistive microstrip of one or more uniaxial ferromagnetic thin layers located on a carrier, in which layers the preferred axis is inclined by an angle between 0 DEG and 90 DEG , particularly about 45 DEG , with respect to the axis of current flow, and means for generating an alternating field, caused by the current to be measured, at an angle which is approximately 45 DEG to the preferred axis of the magnetisation, and a source for constantly feeding the microstrip with direct current is provided.
