This continuously operating, enclosed pearlstone sand mill has an annular milling space between the outer trough wall 1 and the inner wall 30, in which space an agitator with axial rods 23 which keep small the scatter of the dwell time which is disadvantageous for the milling result operates at high speed. The inner milling space boundary 30 is axially adjustable for the purpose of setting the density of the pearlstone sand, for the purpose of compensating the wear of the pearlstone sand and for the purpose of facilitating the starting-up of the agitator. <IMAGE>
