Accommodated in the cabinet carcass (1) of the chest of drawers are drawers (2, 3, 4), a blocking pillar (5) and a locking device (6) with a cylinder lock (7). The blocking pillar (5) is held on the cabinet carcass (1) by connection pieces (21) which non-rotatably bear an axle body on which actuating members (34) are guided longitudinally adjustably and rotatably and pressure members (35) are guided non-rotatably together with spacer members (36) which are again rotatable. A rack (49) attached to a drawer (2, 3, 4) engages in each case in the outer toothing of an actuating member (34). Axial cams are provided on the adjacent end faces of the actuating members (34) and pressure members (35), which axial cams lift all the members (35, 36 and 34) situated above a drawer when the latter is pulled out. As a result, the upper spacer member (36) is lifted into an annular lifting space up to a stop, thus preventing further lifting and pulling-out of a second drawer. When all the drawers are pushed in, a lock and an annular segment collar (54) can be pushed into the lifting space by means of the cylinder lock (7) thus blocking all the drawers in their closed position. The design of the pull-out lock as a blocking pillar is inexpensive and space-saving. <IMAGE>
