The passage is suspended on resilient mountings and subjected to powdered vibrations. The level of bagasse in the passage is held constant by automatic adjustment of roll speed in relation to the level detected. The vibrations pref. operate parallel to the axis of the passage. When dealing with very wet bagasse, a passage with a perforated drainage wall is pref. Vibrations are then applied in a direction making an angle of between 30 degrees and 60 degrees with the perforated wall. Fluctuations in bagasse feed to the inlet rolls are now obviated. This results in increased output which is further enhanced by the pre-drainage effected by vibration of wet material against a perforated wall. The bagasse is thinned advantageously where ir enters the rolls by moisture shaken down the passage.
|
