The invention relates to an apparatus for obtaining drinking water by condensing air humidity. An apparatus of this type is to be distinguished by its simple, and thus cost-effective, construction. It is further intended to operate with a high efficiency, to require only a relatively low energy and maintenance outlay, and to be designed in a transportable fashion as a compact unit. This is achieved by a suction-fan unit for surrounding air and a cooling apparatus which is connected to the former in terms of flow, cools the suction stream to dew-point temperature, and has a condensing-surface device and a collecting tank for the condensation dripping off from said condensing-surface device. An electronic control means, comprising at least one air-humidity sensor with temperature detector, is arranged in the air-inlet channel of the suction fan, and a temperature detector and residual-air-humidity sensor are arranged in the air-outlet channel adjoining the cooling apparatus. Said sensors and detectors are connected to form an analog regulating circuit by means of which both the throughput of air through the condensing-surface device, via the suction fan, and the temperature of the cooling apparatus can be controlled.
