PURPOSE:To shorten a necessary focusing time by varying the slow driving area width of a photographic lens according to the movement extent which is detected at the stop of a motor and required by the photographic lens to arrive at its focusing position. CONSTITUTION:A reference data value for the deceleration of a motor MO which is to be compared with the necessary movement extent value of the photographic lens LE to reach the focusing position is varied according to the value of the necessary movement extent value detected at the stop of the motor MO. Therefore, when the necessary movement extent is small, the width of the slow driving area of the lens LE is shortened and fast driving is performed as much as the width is shortened to increase the driving speed of the motor MO; and the lens is driven at the alow speed when approaching the focusing position, thereby shortening the time up to the focusing. |
