PURPOSE:To increase the utilization rate of the active material of a pasted plate for a lead storage battery and improve the ability of holding the active material by using conductive synthetic resin fiber in the pasted plate. CONSTITUTION:The plate of a storage battery is made by using an active material containing conductive synthetic resin fiber. For example, the plate is made by mixing the active material with dilute sulfuric acid and conductive synthetic resin fiber, prepared by mixing a polyolefin- or polyester-system synthetic resin with carbon powder or acid-proof metal powder, to prepare a paste and then packing it into a grid before drying the thus obtained body. The diameter and the length of the fiber used are 1-10mum and 1-2mm. respectively. As a result, the adhesion and the conduction between the active material and the grid are increased. Accordingly, a lead storage battery with long life and good high-rate discharge characteristic can be obtained. |
