PURPOSE:To form a uniform developer layer by scattering toner over the surfasce of a two-component developer on a nonmagnetic conductor developer holding member and forming a toner layer, and positioning the toner layer on an electrostatic latent image base without contacting and scattering the toner. CONSTITUTION:A developing device 4 is provided with a sleeve type developer holding member 9 which contains a fixed magnet 8, and the member 9 is rotatable as shown by an arrow, and nonmagnetic and conductive. A developer is a two-component developer which consists of a high-resistance magnetic carrier and nonmagnetic carrier. There are agitator member 14 and 15 which rotate as shown by arrows in a noncontacting state near the lower part of the member 9, and a scraper member 13 is provided at the downstream side of the position facing a toner holding member 10. A cylindrical toner holding member 12 is arranged so that its surface does not contact a developer layer on the member 9. The member 9 is applied with a voltage obtained by superposing a direct current upon an alternating current by a bias power source 16 and the member 10 is applied with a voltage obtained by superposing a direct current upon an alternating current by a bias power source 17, thereby forming a uniform developer layer on a photosensitive drum 1. |
