发明名称 MANUFACTURE OF CHIRAL SMECTIC C LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY ELEMENT
摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To obtain a liquid crystal display element having time responsiveness of high speed by injecting chiral smectic C liquid crystals of uniform molecular orientation, between a pair of substrates which are placed a pair of polarizing plates on the outside, and form a transparent electrode and an oriented film on the inside surface. CONSTITUTION:Polarizing plates 9, 10 are placed on the surface of the outside of transparent substrates 5, 6, respectively, and transparent electrodes 1, 2 and orineted films 3, 4 are formed on the surface of the inside, respectively. Between said pair of substrates 5, 6, a space is formed by interposing a spacer 7 which serves as a sealing member, too, a liquid crystal of a state heated up to above a temperature at which it becomes a liquid state is injected into said space, and thereafter, by lowering the temperature to an ordinary temperature, a chiral smectic C liquid crystal 8 is obtained. Also, an angle theta1 made by a polarizing transmission axis B of the polarizing plate 10 of one side, and an orientation axis D of a rubbing groove of the oriented film of that side is set to about 0-10 degrees, and an angle theta2 made by a polarizing transmission axis A of the polarizing plate 9 of the other side, and an orientation aixs C of the oriented film of that side is set to about 90-100 degrees, by which the time responsiveness of high speed can be obtained.</p>
