This invention relates to a measuring system for measuring the capacitive impedance of a bearing installed in a housing for the purpose of determining the lubrication condition of the bearing. A metal measuring ring surrounds the bearing in close fitting relationship therewith. At those portions of the surface of the ring that are in contact with the bearing and the housing are coated with an insulating layer, wherein the portion of the insulating layer that is in contact with the bearing is substantially thinner than the remaining portion of the insulating layer.
