PURPOSE:To inject and to diffuse various metallic ions into glass plate at relatively low temperature by dry process, by attaching an electrode consisting of a metal to be injected to the glass plate, impressing DC voltage between the electrode and the back of the glass plate under given conditions. CONSTITUTION:The surface of the glass plate 1 is coated with the desired very thin electrode 31 consisting of the same metal as that to be injected to the glass metal 1 in order to control refractive index distribution. DC voltage is impressed between the electrode 31 and the glass plate 1 in a hot state at a temperature lower than the melt temperature of the metal. Metallic ions are injected and diffused into the glass plate 1, the electrode 31 is removed, and the glass plate is heat-treated. |
