DRAWING-OUT OR DRAWING-IN METHOD OF OPTICAL FIBER CABLE

PURPOSE:To reduce the frictional force in the drawing-out or drawing-in operation of an optical fiber cable by interposing small-diameter spherical bodies between the optical fiber cable and the inner peripheral surface of a protection cylinder when the optical fiber cable is run by traction in the hollow part of the protection cylinder. CONSTITUTION:An end part of a compound aerial earth-wire 1 is made open and the protection cylinder 3 and optical fiber cable 4 are exposed stepwise to proper length respectively. Then, a spherical body supply device 5 is arranged at the end part of the protection cylinder 3 and the tip part of a supply pipe 9 is inserted into the hollow part 3a of the protection cylinder 3. One end part 10a of a new optical fiber cable 10 is connected to the end part 4a of the existent optical fiber cable 4 through a connecting means 11. Spherical bodies 6 are supplied forcibly into the hollow part 3a of the protection cylinder 3 through the supply pipe 9 and the new optical fiber cable 10 is drawn in the protection cylinder 3 while the optical fiber cable 4 is run by traction and drawn out of the protection cylinder 3.
