The invention relates to a detector intended to detect the changes in position of an element 15 closing off an opening let into a wall 17, such as a window or a door. According to the invention, the detector comprises an elongate flexible part 11 which is equipped with holes and one end of which is fixed to one 15 of the parts 15, 17 which are movable with respect to one another, while the opposite end extends through a slot 18 let into a detector element 19 which is arranged on the other part 17, an actuating member in the shape of a finger 22 arranged in this detector element 19 interacting with the said elongate part in such a way as to take up a first position in which this actuating member 22 extends through one of the holes 21 of this elongate part 11, or also a second position in which the front end of this actuating member 22 comes into abutment on this elongate part 11, this actuating member 22 forming part of an alarm device which is triggered when this actuating member takes one of its two positions.
