PURPOSE:To enable printing speed to be selected in accordance with the kind of a printing medium, by a method wherein it is designated whether a printing medium is one having a thickness uniform in the digit place direction or is one having a thickness varied in the digit place direction, and printing speed is varied on the basis of the designation. CONSTITUTION:The kind of the printing medium is designated by a designating means, and printing speed is selected by a selecting means on the basis of the designation. Different count signals are provided for spacing driving, whereby head velocity is changed, and the timing of energizing a printing magnet in a print head operated in conjunction with the spacing driving timing is changed, thereby obtaining different printing speeds. Namely, energizing times T, T1 are set by a printing head controlling circuit 24, and by using input printing data (c) and a driving timing given by a clock signal (k) from a spacing-controlling circuit 23, the printing magnet in the printing head 10 is energized for the energizing time T, thereby printing. When a selection signal s2 is inputted from an energizing time selecting part 18, the magnet is energized for the energizing time T1 by using the driving timing given by a clock signal k1 from the circuit 23, thereby printing. |
